Gmail setup guide

Connect a Gmail or Google Workspace account via IMAP/SMTP

Setup Steps

    Make sure 2-Factor Authentication is enabled on your Google Account (myaccount.google.com → Security)

    Go to myaccount.google.com → Security → How you sign in → App passwords

  3. 3

    Select "Mail" as the app and your device type, then click Generate

  4. 4

    Copy the 16-character App Password shown — you'll need it in TELVRIX

    In Gmail settings (gear icon → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP), enable IMAP

    In TELVRIX onboarding, select Gmail as your provider

  7. 7

    Enter your Gmail address as the username and the App Password as the password

Notes

The App Password is 16 characters with spaces (e.g. "xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx"). Enter it exactly as shown, including or excluding spaces — both work.

If you see "Less secure app access" instead of App passwords, that's an older Google account type. Enable 2FA first to unlock App Passwords.

Known Limitations

  • Standard Google password will not work — App Password is required
  • IMAP must be explicitly enabled in Gmail settings
  • Google Workspace accounts may need an admin to enable IMAP for the organization
  • OAuth (Sign in with Google) is not supported — IMAP/SMTP only
