Outlook / Microsoft 365 setup guide

Connect an Outlook.com, Hotmail, or Microsoft 365 account

Setup Steps

    Enable 2-step verification on your Microsoft account (account.microsoft.com → Security → Advanced security options)

    Go to account.microsoft.com → Security → Advanced security options → App passwords → Create new app password

  3. 3

    Copy the generated App Password — save it somewhere safe

  4. 4

    In TELVRIX, select "Outlook / Microsoft" as your provider

  5. 5

    Enter your full Microsoft email address as the username

  6. 6

    Enter the App Password as the password (not your regular Microsoft password)

Notes

If you have a Microsoft 365 business account and IMAP is blocked, your IT admin must enable it in the Microsoft 365 admin center under Settings → Mail → IMAP.

Known Limitations

  • Standard Microsoft password will not work for IMAP — App Password required
  • 2-step verification must be enabled before App Passwords are available
  • Microsoft 365 organizational accounts may have IMAP disabled by an admin
  • Modern Authentication (OAuth) is not yet supported
